Frequently Asked Questions
How much should I spend on a promotional item?
A: It depends on what you want to accomplish. Your
objective should help set the budget. If you want to be perceived
as a quality company, then don’t make the mistake of tarnishing
your image by using what people may consider a “cheap”
or low quality item.
What should we hope to accomplish by using a promotional
product?
A: The particular situation determines the objective.
Here are some examples:
• You want to build traffic in your retail
store. Advertise that you’ll be giving away a free
t-shirt with every purchase on a particular day.
• You want to express appreciation to customers. Sending
a gift helps solidify your relationship with a customer.
• You want to get the recipient’s attention. There’s
nothing better than the clever use of a promotional product
to accomplish this goal. A tool kit, for example, was used
by an insurance company to let agents know that it had “the
right insurance tools” to help them sell more policies.
How can I be sure that the product will be exactly
what I want?
A: First, as an Advertising Specialty Institute member,
we can check on every manufacturer’s record of performance.
We refuse to place orders with companies that have a below par
record. Second, request a sample. Third, request what we call
a “spec sample”. This is a sample made especially
to show you how your product will look with your graphics and
colors. This is particularly important on large orders and four-color
process orders. It’s well worth the extra cost.
I don't have artwork desgined. Can you help?
A: Yes, we have our own in-house art department that
can assist you in design work and typesetting. We can design
a new logo for you or make changes to any existing artwork you
may have.
